Adult Overmitts or Insulated Mittens Sewing Pattern (Sold per Each)
Overmitts protect against rain, snow, and wind and are worn over smaller mittens or gloves for extra warmth. Our sewing pattern creates an easy-to-sew version of overmitts with options for adding insulation. Add sturdy CORDURA Nylon Fabric for the palms for better gripping. These mittens have an outer layer and insulating lining. Adjustable D-ring straps close at the wrists to keep out the weather.
Suggested Fabrics:
Outer Fabric: Lightweight waterproof, waterproof breathable, or water-repellent fabric. Palm: CORDURA Nylon Fabric.
Insulated Mittens Only: Lining - Hi-count nylon taffeta; Insulated Lining - Hi-count nylon taffeta plus Thinsulate; or PolarTec; or Pre-quilted fabric.
Fabric Requirements, 45" or 60" fabric for all sizes:
Outer Fabric: 5/8 yard (.57m)
CORDURA Nylon Fabric for palm: 1/4 yard (.23m)
Lining Fabric (Insulated Mittens): 5/8 yard (.57m)
Insulation (Insulated Mittens): 5/8 yard (.57m)
Notions:
Polyester thread, four 1/2" (13mm) D-rings.
