Collection: Neoprene

Most Neoprene is petroleum-based, which is very harmful to the environment. All of Rockywoods' Neoprene is limestone-based. This is considered to be Eco friendly in the industry. The one exception is the Lexcell by Yulex, which is plant-based, the most environmentally friendly Neoprene, as long as the fabric being laminated to is doesn't use solvent-based adhesives. All of our Neoprene, including the Lexcell uses a water-base adhesive.

Water-based adhesives dramatically reduce VOC emissions because they use water as the main solvent instead of toxic chemicals. They're safer for workers, much lower-impact on the environment, and are a big part of why some wetsuit brands advertise "solvent-free" or "eco-laminate" Neoprene now.
